November Goals (ish)

Cleveland Field Well, it's official. This is the longest I've ever gone without blogging (at least in awhile). Fall got me good, but I'm slowly climbing out of the shoot, edit, repeat cycle I was in for the last two months. I have SO, SO many beautiful people to showcase on this blog, but I wanted to at least attempt to put together a November goals post before November is behind us. Is it any surprise that I'm keeping it way simple these last couple weeks of the month?

November Goals

  • Finish Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less (yep, still going with this one. Not because it's not good, but because I can't seem to find the time to read!)
  • Finish all the editing that's currently on my plate (I WANT to say by Thanksgiving, but that might be a little ambitious!)
  • Complete a 10K!
  • Order our Christmas cards
  • Start Christmas shopping

This Thanksgiving season, I'm definitely most thankful for the opportunity to savor time with people I love. I hope you all have a beautiful holiday!

October Goals

Autumn in Ohio I stayed SO busy in September, as evidenced by my lack of blog posts. Here's the thing about blogging. I love it, I really do. As a journalism girl, I get to fulfill my love of writing on this little blog here. However, one thing I've learned while running this business is that I have to take care of my clients first (shooting, editing, e-mailing, meeting) and then myself (exercising, eating right, resting), and that doesn't always provide a lot of extra time for the other things that I reallllly want to accomplish (blogging, shooting for myself, staying super up-to-date with social media). Owning a small business is a whirlwind--a good one--and I'm always learning something new. I promise I'm going to be introducing some really awesome people to this blog soon enough. For now, my reach-for-the-stars, I-wish-there-were-30-hours-in-a-day goals for October. It's my last super busy month of the year, and I'm going to try to keep up with everything. Even if I only get 24 hours a day.

October Goals

  • Finish Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less (ironic that I'm having a hard time finishing this book in the midst of my busy season?) and read Everything I Never Told You
  • Continue developing a realistic morning routine, especially as the days start to slow down
  • Finish decorating our kitchen nook
  • Start training for the Cincinnati Turkey Trot (yes, I have to train for a 10K!)
  • Go on a fall hike
  • Take one weekend day completely off to spend with Nathan
  • Host Nathan's family for a weekend
  • Edit all September work and stay caught up with October work through the end of the month

September Goals

New Orleans Books While everyone else is talking about pumpkin spice lattes and boots and scarves, I'm still thinking about warm weather and iced coffee. I'm definitely a summer girl, and while I love our four seasons, I'm OK with a little bit more summer. I'll be soaking up the very last drop of it this month … and then bring on the scarves (But not the pumpkin spice lattes. Blech.)

September Goals

  • Finish Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less and read The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace
  • Start Savor (guys, I'm GOING to do it this month, along with the help of …)
  • Develop a realistic morning routine (more on this later)
  • Put away the screens and enjoy a long anniversary weekend in Michigan with Nathan
  • Go on at least one bike ride
  • Re-paint our guest bedroom (I've never gotten used to the punchy blue)
  • Go through my closet and make minor changes to my fall/winter capsule wardrobe
  • Get caught up on vendor galleries (for real this time)
  • Get caught up on editing before I photograph two pretty September weddings

August Goals

Charleston South Carolina CharmJuly was fantastic, you guys. I think maybe that's why I'm a bit late with this post … I'm in denial that July is over! :) I rarely get time off in the middle of the summer because there are so many beautiful weddings happening that I want to photograph! However, after recently experiencing five weeks off from weddings in the middle of my busiest season, I realized how valuable it is to get caught up, recharge and gear up for the second half of wedding season. I also feel like I've gotten to experience summer this year, which is such a nice feeling since we don't get to enjoy this beautiful weather all year round. This is most definitely going to become a tradition for Lane Baldwin Photography!

And now I'm ready to work hard and play hard this last full month of summer. (But really, doesn't it seem like it was just February?) What's left on your summer bucket list? Anything special or unique that you're super excited about?
