The Finished Product | Master Bedroom

When we bought our house last December, we decided to take the decorating slow. We were only going to work on one room at a time and not move on to another room until that first one was done. We decided this mostly to save money and avoid getting overwhelmed with simultaneous projects. Even though I've been reallllly impatient with this first room and I'm realizing we'll be about 42 by the time we're done, I know that was the right decision. You definitely savor your hard work if you pour all of your effort into one space! So, a little background on our house: It's a 1940s Colonial and it was totally flipped before we bought it. The best part though? The flippers (haha!) kept all of the original floors and woodwork, which makes the place seem new, but charmingly old at the same time. Just what we were going for!

Without further ado, here's our FINISHED master bedroom! (And P.S., I will be bragging about my husband throughout this post because he's amazing and created a lot of stuff you'll see. I am NOT handy. He is!)

The while-we-were-moving-in:

The after!

Master Bedroom Makeover Nathan calls this the "Lane area" because my mirror is so low, I'm the only one who can see in it. Oh for the love of being short!

Master Bedroom Makeover Master Bedroom Makeover I also did a DIY 101 post on those yarn letters.

Master Bedroom Makeover Our blue closets! Nathan ripped out the old, gross closets and rebuilt all four of them! We painted them blue and then Nathan put in new lights.

Master Bedroom Makeover And the window seat! Again, bragging on Nathan. He BUILT this thing! Doesn't it look like part of the house? I love window seats, and now I can read on this one. :)

My Office Pinterest Board

We're just waiting on the window seat in our bedroom and then we're done with that room and will be moving on to my office! :) I can hardly wait. My goal is to match my brand with the decor in the room, so that means lots of coral!

Here's my logo that I'm using for inspiration. I'm thinking more of a mint green:

I'm having a hard time choosing the wall color. My office is very cottage-y feeling and the ceilings slope a lot. We're going to do white wood on the bottom half, so that means I'll be painting the ceiling. I don't think I'm brave enough to do a really deep coral all over the ceiling. What do you think? A lighter coral? A latte brown color and then coral and mint as accents? Our bedroom is tan, so I'm trying to work up the courage to get some color on the walls. Design friends, I need help!

Ever since Nathan and I bought our house, we've been working on the master bedroom. I reallllly wanted to show you the finished product today but we decided I begged Nathan to build a window seat in our nook and I want to wait until we're totally done. Because we're taking it one room at a time, we're realizing that we're going to be about 43 by the time our house is done. But to tide you over (I'm sure you're just on the edge of your seats waiting for these pictures), I'm sharing my Pinterest inspiration board. It's a mix of colors, textures and some of the actual products we're using in the room.

Home at Last

Pssst ... Hey, guess what?

That key up there ...

... goes to this house here. And the key is on MY key chain! Nathan and I officially own a darling 1940s colonial. I love it. And, I can't stop smiling. :D

Once we got our keys we had our first dinner in the house, complete with champagne. Being the super fancy people we are, we chose to eat Wendy's and drink a $7 bottle of champagne. Hey, we have a mortgage now!

But seriously, we're both so, so thankful that we are able to call this house ours. Although we saved and saved and saved for our "one-day house," now that it's here we can hardly believe the key is in our hand. As we sat on the floor and made our way through salty fries and sweet champagne, we talked about plans for the house—what would go where, the best paint color for in there—and my heart was so full. Sometimes there are no words to describe how incredibly thankful I am  for the life I live every day; it just feels right. And I know what an unbelievable blessing that is.

I'm so excited to share our house with you, faithful readers. Stay tuned for before-and-after pictures as we slowly make this place cute and cozy!
