St. Lucia | Travel

When I was little, my family would take a vacation once a year, and always to someplace different. At the time, I just wanted to go to the beach every year, but now that I'm older I really, really appreciate having had the chance to see so much of the world. I think that's what started the travel bug, and now I'm kinda obsessed. Thankfully, Nathan wants to travel with me too. :)

We recently took a MUCH needed trip to St. Lucia for our two-year anniversary. The beach and a new island to explore? The perfect combo! It was pure bliss to have a week to relax with Nathan and without responsibilities. The scenery was gorgeous, our resort was perfectly secluded and it was WARM (unlike Cleveland!). If you're planning a trip to St. Lucia, I highly recommend going in the off season when the prices are about half of what they are during busy season. It did rain off and on, but overall it was pretty perfect!

Breakfast was our favorite meal of the day. If you know us, you know that's not surprising. :)

And then we hiked to the top of one of the Pitons. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Glad I did it, won't do it again. ;)

I'm Baaack!

I'm officially back on the grid after 10 glorious, unplugged days. It helped that we were on a beautiful, tropical island and I didn't even want to look at my phone because I was too busy staring at my St. Lucian surroundings. :) Nathan and I are celebrating two years of marriage today, so this trip was the perfect anniversary present for us! I'm totally a follow-the-rules and stay-on-a-routine person, but having nothing on the agenda each day except get caramel waffles for breakfast was amazingly freeing. Now I'm refreshed and ready to tackle the end of wedding season! Later this afternoon, I'll have a wedding sneak peek up for you. A Few Days of Rest

My summers have looked a lot different than "normal" summers since starting a photography business. It's busy. There's a wedding every weekend. There are lots of late nights editing. I love what I do, but I need a break from work sometimes.

Enter lake house. Nathan's family's home that always serves as a point of relaxation and recuperation. We snuck down to Tennessee for a few days last week, and it was exactly what I needed.

Amazing book. Pick it up if you have a chance!

A new dock was delivered while we were there. It is the craziest thing to see a gigantic building (basically) being pushed down a body of water with a tiny little boat.

Fab Five Fridays: International Dream Vacations

I DO know it's actually Thursday today (fortunately, I'm not that scatterbrained), but I have something else planned for tomorrow's post and I wanted to wrap up my dream vacation series (see the first and second) this week. Let me also say that I've loved reading your comments! Baltimore is officially on my stateside list thanks to one of you. :) I've been really fortunate in that I've had opportunities to travel overseas. I was actually born out of the country (in the West Bank outside of Jerusalem), and my parents have always been awesome at sharing their love of travel with me and my brother. Plus, I got to study abroad in Luxembourg, which was close to seemingly every other country in Western Europe. Some of my favorite places I visited were Paris, Prague, Barcelona, Salzburg and Lucerne, among others. I would love to go back to some of those spots, but for the sake of this post I'm dreaming about fabulous cities I have yet to visit.
