Baby Jeffrey | Newborn

Baby Jeffrey was, hands down, the most cooperative newborn I've ever photographed. I usually get pretty lucky with babies' temperaments, but this little guys was awake the whole time and didn't make a peep! He was just content to be held or observe everyone in the room when it was his turn to be photographed solo.

Jeffrey's parents, Matt and Jen, are great friends of Nathan's and mine, and it was so special to get a peek into their little family's first few days. They make it look so easy! :)

Matt needs a "World's Greatest Dad" T-shirt. He is SO good with Jeffrey!

Jen, this makes my heart melt. You are such a good mom!

July Goals

I learned (or relearned) quite a few things in June:

When you take on six weddings all in one month, you should plan to have a frivolous book on your nightstand for some light reading at the end of the night. Taking on Girl Meets God last month was not my best decision. I'll be saving that one for the end of the year.
To avoid a wedding "hangover," you must chug water the second you get home. A Lime-A-Rita is not a substitute.
And on that same note, popcorn is not a substitute for a proper lunch. Although it IS delicious.
When you try to cram two or three months of work into one, most of your goals will take a back seat to editing. Duly noted.

Needless to say, June wasn't my best month for completing goals. I got a little ahead of myself, and now that I'm trying to catch up on all that June plopped on my desk, I'll be posting some ~~boring~~ reasonable goals for July. :) I hope your summers are off to a great start! Can I get a high five for all this awesome weather we've been having?! (Read: It makes for a happy wedding photographer!)

Read two books (25 in 12): Prayers for the Stolen by Jennifer Clement and And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
Workout 3/week
Start decorating our living room walls (they've been empty for far too long!)
Go to the pool at least once
Take off ALL of July 4th weekend for a little Pure Michigan getaway
Try a new (to us), local brunch spot
Finish editing all June weddings
Submit two weddings
Blog 3/week

Hinckley Lake Lifestyle Family Session

What a fun session! The S family met me at Hinckley Lake on a gorgeous June evening, and we basically played for the entire session. Nathan kept everyone laughing with his jokes, Nolan kept everyone on their toes as he really just wanted to practice his running and Allyson kept track of Nolan, as any good big sister would. I think my favorite picture out of the whole bunch is the photobomb picture at the end. All three kids have an awesome sense of humor to say the least. And mom and dad are pretty good sports too. :)

We woke up bright and early for Ethan's one-year photos, and it was so worth it. Just look at that lovely early morning light.
