August Goals

August is a bit of a breather for me before the last push of this wedding season. It's really nice to have a refresher in the middle of the season, and I'm looking forward to getting caught up a bunch this month.

And as if August couldn't get any better, Nathan and I are celebrating our five-year wedding anniversary at the end of the month with a little trip. How it's been five years already is beyond me, but I'm super excited for a little travel and quality time with Nathan to end the summer. :)

Happy summer-ing to you!

Baby Mary | Tremont Lifestyle Baby Photos

Oh my goodness. This sweet, peaceful newborn session has a soft spot in my heart. At six weeks old, little Mary was technically not a newborn when we took these photos, and that's because she and her mom (and dad!) went through some trying times at the beginning of her life. Some complications after her birth left her mom, Caitlin, in the hospital for a lot longer than anyone anticipated, and it was hard all around.

During the session, I commented on how sweet and easy Mary was, and Caitlin said she thinks it's because she's had to deal with lots of ups and downs already. Whether or not that's true, this little girl is an angel. Her entire family is home now, and one thing is certain: They love each other!

Hudson Ohio Spring Family Photos

I've gotten to photograph Miss Gabrielle since she was born, and let me tell you ... I adore this family. Cedric, Karla and Gabrielle are the kindest, funniest, most joyful people. It makes my job photographing them pretty darn easy.

We met up in downtown Hudson just after Gabrielle turned three and I photographed them playing together. It was a pretty eventful afternoon walking around the square, blowing bubbles and petting a cat that seemed to follow us wherever we went. :)

Venice, Italy | Travel

I got to visit Venice once before this trip. I was 20, studying abroad in Luxembourg and traveled to Italy for a week with six other girls. My memories of that trip involve getting lost in the outskirts of Venice, wheeling our suitcases along an obscure road for ... awhile, staying in a bubbly RV-type structure at a campground because that's all we could afford, walking around in the rain, and eating lots of pizza and gelato. It was hilarious.

This trip was so different. Except for the pizza and gelato. :)

Nathan and I traveled to Italy in April with my parents, and while we got lost plenty of times along the canals of Venice (seriously, that city is confusing), we slept in an actual building, the weather was phenomenal and I appreciated the city so much more. Venice is mesmerizing.

Where we stayed: At this cute apartment near Piazza San Rocco
Where we ate: Pizzeria Ristorante Al ProfetaPasticceria Rizzardini, Grom Gelato, Gelateria il Doge
What we did: Toured Saint Mark's Basilica, the Church of Saint Roch and Santa Maria della Salute; took a gondola ride (we had to!); fed the birds at Saint Mark's Square (well, Nathan did!); crossed the Accademia and Rialto Bridges; window shopped and spent lots of time people watching at cafes along the canals
