This wedding was, in one word, sweet. The respect and care that these two have for one another is so inspiring. I feel so thankful that I was asked to capture it! Markie is uber creative (she was even doing her bridesmaids' hair that morning!) and knew exactly what she wanted from her day. Her mom helped piece all the details together perfectly, but what I love most is that the marriage shone through on this wedding day. Andrew could not get enough of his bride, and their faith poured out of them as the beautiful, sunny, spring day unfolded. Much more soon but for now ...
Oz-Inspired Styled Shoot: Behind the Scenes
One of the things I loved most about working in an office was the collaboration with co-workers. We worked really closely with one another at the fraternity, and every hour or so someone would pop into my office with an idea or a question ... or just to chat. :) I loved that, and its one of the things I miss when working from home (my cat pops into my office all the time but it's not quite the same). So, when the idea of a styled shoot came up, I knew I wanted to collaborate again. After lots of meetings and searching for the right props and putting it all together, it ... well ... came together fabulously. This was my first styled shoot so I really had no idea to expect, but I was blown away by how perfectly everyone delivered their piece ... and how fun it was! I hope I did the whole thing justice with the pictures!
Because we're hoping to get our Oz (The Great and Powerful)-inspired shoot featured, I can't show you the official photos just yet, but I have the next best thing: a look at the behind the scenes! These people are so dedicated to their jobs, they deserve some recognition. Even if they're hanging from trees in the photos. ;)
A model needs her coffee.
Lindsay London is SO good at what she does. :)
These two were the brains behind the whole thing. Jennifer of Heart 2 Heart Occasions and Darci of DG Invites are so creative!
Heather of Fair Rarity outdid herself on the flowers and really the whole centerpiece design. I don't think she realizes how talented she is!
Doug of Attention to Detail captured the whole thing on video, and Laura of A Bride's Design stayed the WHOLE morning to keep Kaitlin's dress looking perfect ... and help us with some other things ...
These two are the best. Gian and Kaitlin are getting married for real later this year!
Here's some of the "other" that Laura did. Pouring glitter on the model. Check! :)
Haha. The trees don't drop petals on their own!
If only life were this convenient all the time. ;)
A Sneak Peek and a Giveaway!
The sun peaked over the roof of the Glidden House just as we were putting the final touches on the cake table. I snapped away and secretly did a few fist pumps. Some days I really can't believe I get to be a photographer in real life, and yesterday was one of those days. I got to be part of the fabulous creative team that put together an Oz-inspired styled shoot, complete with a bride and groom, dainty flowers spilling out of teapots, and lots and lots of emerald and gold. I can't WAIT to share all these photos with you but for now it's just a sneak peek. You guys.
And if that's not enough excitement for one post, I also get to give away two pairs of tickets to Cleveland Magazine's Silver Spoon Awards party happening from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15 at the InterContinental Hotel downtown! :D This is a charitable event that benefits the Arthritis Foundation (of Northeast Ohio) and it includes food-tasting from more than 40 fantastic local spots, including Deagan's, Hodge's and Spice Kitchen + Bar. Plus, wine is included. How can you say no to wine? Or live entertainment, a raffle and a silent auction? The answer is you can't.
To top it off, I get to photograph the event! I'm really looking forward to this, and I want a few of you guys to join me. To enter to win one of the pairs of tickets, please leave a comment below telling us how you choose to give back. You may enter one time between now and Sunday, May 12 at midnight. I'll post/contact the winners on Monday and mail the tickets ASAP! I can't wait to see some of you at this great event!
Lauren & Joe | Cuyahoga Falls Spring Wedding
Lauren and Joe are two of those people that you feel like you've known forever, even if you've only known them a few months. (I could probably say that about all my couples!) Lauren is so sweet and warm and a little bit goofy (and hey, that's one of Joe's favorite things about her). :) And she's amaaaazing in front of the camera!
Joe is very chill but will tell you anything you want to know. And it just so happens that he plays rugby ... and suffered an injury days before their big day! He was still hurting by the time their wedding rolled around but you would never know it from looking at the pictures, right? So, he's also a trooper. He didn't complain one time!
And together? Together they're even better.
Lauren and Joe had a small Cuyahoga Falls ceremony with their nearest and dearest. I've come to adore intimate weddings because they're so personal and the bride and groom really have the opportunity to really celebrate with everyone they love. This wedding was no exception.
Thank you guys for asking me to join you on your big day! Let's hang out when you move to our neighborhood. ;)
Lauren and Joe had a first look at High Bridge Glen in Cuyahoga Falls, the spot where Joe proposed. Magically, the rain held off and the light was perfect.
Oh, they are such naturals. This is a fave.
You two are ridiculously good looking.
SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT LAUREN BEING GOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?! Gorgeous.
And then it was off to the church!
Love the way Joe is looking at Lauren. Keep it up, sir! ;)
