March Goals
Hello, friends! Happy March! We have SUN today, which gets me thinking about flowers and green grass and spring in general. I can hardly wait to see our flowers bloom again. :)
For me, March is going to be B-U-S-Y! Especially compared to the relatively quiet winter I've enjoyed. I've got three weddings on the books (but one is already photographed!), trips out of town and a conference to finish out the end of the month. My biggest goal is to keep up with it all while practicing my 2014 goal of balance. This will be a big test for what the summer might look like and I'm feeling good about it!
Over the last couple months I've been taking a tip from Nancy Ray and have been setting my iPhone alarm to keep me focused on each task. The rule is that I can't do anything other than what I'm supposed to be working on until my alarm goes off. Then it's time for a small break to recharge for the next task. So far, so good! It's like a mini competition every hour … who will win? Me or my iPhone? ;)
- Read two books (25 in 12): Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen and The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak (Plus finish Film is Not Dead. I realized as I started reading it last month that it's a book meant to be read a little at a time … not necessarily devoured while you're laying in bed!)
- Complete month #2 of Insanity (between being sick and falling off the wagon, I definitely let this one slide! Time to get back at it this month!)
- Find chairs for our living room
- Mentally prepare for Making Things Happen (if that's even possible!)
- Make time for at least two date nights with Nathan
- Continue working on my good-side split (per #93 on my 101 list)
- Book our plane tickets to Ireland and Scotland!
- Finish my new website
- Finish 2013 vendor discs (le sigh. This might always be on my list … I need to GET IT DONE!)
- Give up sweets and take on a daily devotional for Lent
- Celebrate my college BFF during her Chicago bride-to-be weekend!
- See two more Oscar-nominated movies (my goal is to see all nine this year … five more to go!)
Baby Wyatt | Newborn
They were convinced it was a girl. Jeanna and Brian decided not to find out the sex of their baby while Jeanna was pregnant (because, as Brian says, "It's one of the few, true surprises in life") … but, still, they were convinced it was a girl. So much so that they didn't really agree on a boy's name before they went to the hospital. And then Brian saw the mop of hair and knew, somehow, he had a son.
Jeanna and Brian are smitten with Wyatt Nathaniel. His pouty lips and hair just like his dad's, his porcelain skin and baby wrinkles--what's not to love?? I so enjoyed spending a chilly February afternoon with these three. Enjoy my favorites!
I love this one. It looks like Brian's already imparting his wisdom on Wyatt.
Jeanna is a beautiful mom!
Love.
Kelsey & Matt | The Club at Hillbrook Winter Wedding
As freshmen at Miami University, Kelsey and Matt heard the stories about kissing your sweetheart under the Upham Hall arch. As the tale goes, couples who kiss under the arch will get married. Kelsey and Matt didn't know each other as incoming freshmen, but a couple years later they would meet in a marketing class inside the very building that houses the arch. And a couple more years later? They'd be married as Miami Mergers.
I admittedly get overly excited about Miami Mergers because I am half of one myself, but I think Kelsey and Matt would 100 percent agree that Miami is a special place (check out their engagement photos around campus). And these two are special themselves. I could gush all day about how fun-loving and genuine Kelsey and Matt are, but they gush about each other much better.
"I love that I get to see a very goofy, fun side of Matt that nobody else gets to see," Kelsey said. "Everyone knows that he is charming and funny, but I get to see how truly hilarious he is!"
And then Matt chimed in:
"She picks up ALL of my slack and is always ridiculously cute."
As if this wedding couldn't get any better, Elizabeth Anne Designs is featuring Kelsey and Matt's big day on their blog today! I've admired Elizabeth Anne Designs for SO long, and I'm so, so excited that these two are featured as a "Real Wedding." Make sure to head over there and leave them some love!
The perfect amount of snow fell for Kelsey and Matt's winter wedding, and Kelsey had cute boots on hand to help her navigate outdoor portraits (yes, we did ALL pictures outside! It was fantastic!)
Kelsey's dress from Something White was so unique and beautiful! I highly suggest giving Karin and Rebecca a buzz if you're in the market for a gown.
Kelsey's grandmother's fur helped keep her warm all day.
I love the brothers discussing where the ring will go ...
Recognize these cuties??
These two share such an awesome relationship. I have so much respect for them.
Beautiful Ashley! (Have I mentioned that I love this family??)
Then it was off to the Hillbrook, which is one of my favorite places to shoot!
These two traipsed through the snow for portraits. I cannot stress enough how amazing they are.
How beautiful are these details? Shi Shi Events and Blooms did a fantastic job putting them together!
And then--and THEN!--it started snowing, and Kelsey asked if we could go outside and take pictures. Ohhh my goodness.
Kelsey and Matt, you are FABULOUS! I'm so thankful we got to work together and laugh together and get to know each other. Go have a fantastic adventure, OK?
