Amy & Tim | Chagrin Falls Sunrise Engagement

I met Amy and Tim at sunrise in the most picturesque town. Chagrin Falls has this American charm and small-town feel that we knew would pair perfectly with engagement photos. These two laughed their way through our morning together and we caught up on wedding planning, potential honeymoon trips, their high-energy dogs, and our favorite things about Cleveland. Amy and Tim tie the knot in three months (THREE, you guys)!

Shannon & Jason | Rockefeller Park Greenhouse Wedding

At the risk of sounding like a complete nerd, Shannon and Jason had me at their cat wedding topper. Yep, we're all cat lovers around here! (Scroll to the bottom of this post if you need to see that wedding topper rightthisveryminute.)

Shannon and Jason had an intimate wedding at Rockefeller Greenhouse with their nearest and dearest. I've said it before but I'll say it again: There's just something so special about small weddings. For these two it just made sense; they are self-proclaimed homebodies and love spending time with their family and a couple close friends … and, of course, each other.

"Jason is funny, kind-hearted, thoughtful, romantic, logical and extremely rational, which helps to balance me out as I can sometimes be emotional," Shannon said.

But Jason said he loves that Shannon is emotional. He loves her "overly kind and sympathetic heart" (it's no surprise she's a counselor and a huge animal lover!) and is most looking forward to continuing to share life with her.

Shannon and Jason, it was an honor to document your wedding and witness your huge hearts for each other and your family and friends. Let's get that dinner sometime soon!

Monica & Shawn | Mentor Headlands Beach Engagement

I met Monica and Shawn for their engagement photos on the most gorgeous September evening. I'm pretty sure the light says it all here. That and their constant laughter. Let's just say Shawn is a tad funny. ;)

I loved observing the way Shawn treats Monica … with the utmost respect and love.

This might be my favorite ring shot EVER!

The light at Mentor Headlands is just perfect in the evenings. The sun sets right over the water and you can shoot until the last possible moment.

Katie & Mason | Rockefeller's Cleveland Heights Wedding on Film

Katie and Mason are college sweethearts and really, really cool people. They're patient, kind to everyone, and appreciate quirky, artsy details. At my very first meeting with Katie and Mason, we talked about film photography and I knew I had to start shooting film before I photographed their wedding. When people understand what inspires you and why, you better believe that they will inspire you. I had so much fun pulling out my Mamiya at this awesome wedding because I knew Katie and Mason would appreciate it.

From Katie about Mason: "I feel safe with him. He pushes me to do things I wouldn't normally do. He is usually funny (wink!). I like art and he's good at it."

From Mason about Katie: "She inspires me to enjoy everything around me in a way that I could never do on my own."

See? Really cool people. Katie and Mason, I love how thoughtful you two are. I appreciate your sense of style and attention to detail. I like that you're reserved but aren't afraid to laugh at yourselves. I'm so grateful you two picked me as your wedding photographer, and I'll remember your day for a long, long time. Katie wore an altered version of her mom's wedding dress. Not only was it a sweet personal touch, the dress look stunning on Katie!

The Alcazar Hotel in Cleveland Heights was the perfect backdrop for this artsy couple's ceremony.

Then it was off to Rockefeller's Restaurant in Cleveland Heights for their untraditional reception!

Katie and Mason opted to have an informal reception full of dancing when you felt like it, talking and laughing with the people they loved most, and the most delicious spread of food ready for the taking. There were no assigned seats and no rules! I loved it!
